Get Involved

Thinking of joining the roller derby community?

Erie Roller Derby accepts refs and volunteers on a rolling basis.

Skaters are invited to join our new recruit events throughout the year. If you want to be involved, we have a role for you!

Our league depends on both skating and non-skating members to operate.

From practices, to organizational tasks, to training, to bout day production - we rely on the hard work and dedication of our league members to build and sustain our great derby community.

No matter what your skill level or experience with roller derby, there’s a place for everybody at ERD!

Recruitment

NEW SKATERS

Erie Roller Derby offers new recruit boot camps throughout the year - keep an eye out on our social media pages and website for date announcements. New recruits (18+) may join any of our boot camps to learn all the derby basics alongside fellow newbies.

Our 2024 season has begun and our new recruit intake has ended for the Spring. Keep an eye out on our social media pages and website for upcoming intake events!

Haven’t skated in a decade? Never skated before in your life? Don’t worry - we’ll teach you all you need to know.

OFFICIALS

Officials are the cornerstone of roller derby - without referees and NSOs (Non-Skating Officials) we wouldn’t be able to compete!

Like the name suggests, NSOs do not skate and fill bout-day roles such as tracking team lineups, scorekeeping, managing the penalty box, and more!

We invite experienced and prospective officials to join at any time. Just like new skaters, we will teach you all you need to know.

VOLUNTEERS

There are many duties to be done behind the scenes to keep our league operating, both on bout-days and during the regular season.

Got a talent or skill you want to bring to the table? Let us know! We are always on the lookout for people with special skills who want to contribute.

Example volunteer opportunities could include, but are not limited to: EMT/certified medical personnel, announcers, or merchandise and 50/50 sales.
